**Coming October 1st**  Riverside Manor pairs the privacy of a remarkable home with the ease of a hosted stay. No grocery runs. No dinner reservations. No divided attention. Just the river, the table, and the people you came to be with.

Stone, timber, sunlight, and water define a home that feels inseparable from its setting. River views reach nearly every room, while generous gathering spaces make the house feel intimate even when everyone is together.

Make a celebrated trout river your backyard—and a welcoming private manor your home base.

Built around 1937 along the banks of the South Holston River, Riverside Manor has been part of this remarkable landscape for nearly a century. Its native stone, mature grounds and extraordinary riverfront setting recall an earlier time, when this stretch of the South Holston was a quiet countryside of family homes, farms and open land.

Historic records trace the property through generations of families who lived along and cared for this riverfront. For roughly 35 years, the Manor was home to James “Jim” Elliott, a respected Bristol attorney, civic leader and lifelong outdoorsman whose love of rivers and the Appalachian mountains made the South Holston a fitting place to call home. His professional biography once described his life here with wonderful simplicity: he and his wife Sharon “live on a trout stream in Tennessee.”

That trout stream is the South Holston—today celebrated as one of the finest trout fisheries in the eastern United States.

For 23 years, Jim and Sharon shared Riverside Manor together. Sharon is an accomplished artist and gifted designer whose creative fingerprint is unmistakable throughout the home. Sharon personally shaped its interiors, filling the rooms with warmth, color, collected furnishings and many of her own original paintings. Her artistry gives the Manor its distinctive character—elegant and sophisticated, yet wonderfully personal and welcoming.

Today, Sharon is opening this longtime private residence to guests for the first time, offering the rare opportunity to experience something that cannot simply be built or recreated: a storied Southern home, filled with art and character, on the banks of an extraordinary river.

This property is managed by Tailwaters Lodge on the South Holston, owned and operated by Bruce and Paula Cote.  They are honored to offer Riverside Manor as a managed property for your enjoyment.

Tailwaters Lodge main campus is 371 TVA Rd. S. Bristol, TN where we offer six cabins on the river as short-term rentals.
